Hello there. I am glad that you have made it to my website. I am Alex, a PhD researcher at Leeds Beckett University. As promised, here is a little bit about me:

 

I have always been an avid hiker and travelled around China first 2009 to 2010 and then again in 2015. In that time I fell in love with the diversity and the paradoxes and idiosyncrasies this beautiful country has to offer anyone who cares to explore it. In 2014 I was offered the chance to bring my interests in hiking, China and tourism together in a 4-year long PhD project, researching hiking tourism on China's Ancient Tea Horse Road.

 

After more than a year of planning it is finally time to actually hit the road or rather hiking trail to conduct my fieldwork. For 5 months from April to September 2016 I will be looking for people who would have me with them on their hikes through Yunnan in the area of the Tea Horse Road, observing, talking and taking photos with anyone of you who would have me as a hiking companion.
